I am delighted to welcome you to the website for Bradford Forster Academy, which opened in September 2015 as a new 11-16 Church of England Academy, as part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust. We currently have 1033 students on roll from years 7 to 11 and Summer 2020 saw our first cohort of students successfully completing their time with us and going on to take up a wide range of local and national Post-16 courses and positions.
Bradford Forster Academy is an exceptional school with high aspiration and ambition for our young people. We are a forward-thinking learning community and I am tremendously proud to lead a dedicated team of highly skilled staff in delivering high quality education for every student in our care. Our aim is to prepare young people for a future in which they have the best possible life chances; one where they will be employable, ambitious, independent, courteous and open minded. We believe education can transform lives and so we provide a rounded learning experience that emphasises traditional standards of uniform, exemplary behaviour and respect alongside a broad, balanced, challenging curriculum and a comprehensive range of enrichment activities.
Our Christian values, which were chosen by our students (and are also the names of our four houses) are Hope, Endurance, Forgiveness and Trust and these are exemplified in all we do, along with an ‘attitude of gratitude’ for our wonderful school and the excellent teaching, enrichment activities and facilities that we enjoy. We believe that these timeless values embody the way we should behave and treat each other in order to ensure a safe, successful and happy school experience.
For us it is vital that we work in partnership with our parents and carers, as we recognise that you are the biggest influence on a young person and we want to work in partnership with you to support your child’s development. We provide some of the best pastoral care in the area and work tirelessly to help ensure any barriers your child faces do not limit their potential, but we do so most effectively when it is in close partnership with the families and community we serve.
Together, the staff and students create a vibrant and engaging school where there is a true sense of family and where we work hard to ensure all our young people develop skills, independence and resilience in both their academic and personal lives. I know if you are a prospective parent or carer, your child will thrive if they join us. We are very proud of our school and so, whilst this website will give you a flavour of our school, I offer you an open invitation to visit and see for yourself the amazing work going on here.
I look forward to welcoming you to our school in the future.
Mrs Cath Proud
