Curriculum at Bradford Forster Academy

At Bradford Forster Academy the curriculum has our vision, ‘Everything is possible for one who believes’ (Mark 9:23)  at its core. Our deep-rooted Christian ethos fosters the development, ambitions and aspirations of our young people and is underpinned by our values of Respect, Growth and Community.

We will ensure that all our students make good progress irrespective of their starting point and those young people facing disadvantage are lifted from any educational and cultural poverty experienced across our community.

In partnership with our strong Christian foundations and high-quality teaching and learning practice, the curriculum at Bradford Forster Academy encourages students to become:

  • Ambitious for themselves.
  • Academically successful.
  • Inquisitive and reflective learners.
  • Active and effective participants.
  • Confident communicators.
  • Emotionally resilient.
  • Inspiring to others.
  • Culturally and socially aware.

Our Curriculum is sequenced to allow students to build their knowledge and skills over time by:

  • Providing a high-quality, all-round education, delivering valuable learning opportunities and experiences for all students, including those with SEND and specific talents
  • Developing levels of literacy, oracy and numeracy across all curricular areas
  • Recognising the importance of digital literacy and provides opportunities for the development of the IT skills required for life
  • Equipping students with the skills they need to function safely and responsibly in an increasingly technological world
  • Providing a range of academic, technical, and vocational courses which challenge, engage and motivate students

Our Curriculum provides students with opportunities for them to develop the habits and skills needed to succeed in life during and after BFA by:

  • Promoting the development of good student physical and mental health and well-being
  • Ensuring equality of opportunity and develops an appreciation and respect for diversity in all its forms, whilst recognising and celebrating that which we have in common alongside that which makes us different
  • Developing cultural capital across a wide range of contexts and experiences
  • Supporting spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in an inclusive school
  • Providing enrichment opportunities and the opportunities to work with outside organisations, where external expertise will enhance the quality of education on offer
  • Providing students with an insight into how life works in our community, our city and in the wider world

In achieving this, we endeavour to support our students in breaking through limited horizons and becoming confident, effective, and employable citizens within the context of the local community of BD4, Bradford and beyond.
